This is the outburst of a senior staff in generation Dept, Engr Tunde Adewale when asked about the situation in Afam Power PLC since the retirement of Engr Obademi?

 He lamented that in the history of Afam Power PLC, a non engineer has never headed the energy company. Even the former minister who is a lawyer appointed Engr Obademi as the MD.

 Some insiders who doesn't want their names on print wondered why Engr Obademi who always instructed Engr Uzor, the maintenance GM to deputise for him when ever he was on leave or on assignment outside the company, will turn around to hand over to inexperienced non engineer upon his retirement. 

 Another group of stakeholders in the energy sector are of the view that the whole hand over exercise to a non engineer was to rubbish the integrity of Hon Minister & his laudable reforms in the power sector.

A major stake holder, Engr Usman Yahaya was emphatic that the hand over of Afam Power PLC to a non engineer was done to spite  the Hon Minister for refusing to approve extension of tenure of the immediate past MD from February to June 2020, thereby portraying the Hon Minister as incompetent in taking the right decision.
While some are of the view that handing over administration can be described as exigency until the Minister of Power transmits a formal letter appointing an acting or substantive MD for Afam Power PLC.

 Nigerians & stake holders are now waiting to see the Hon Minister redeem his image from the ugly situation in Afam Power PLC by appointing a certified engineer with excellent maintenance culture to take charge as the Managing Director of Afam Power PLC.
